Die M 5 war die Umsetzung des 109 ins Plastikzeitalter. Die Technik war anfangs identisch, später kam dann noch eine Venturi-Klappe hinzu. Die nächste Entwicklung war eine Kälteoptimierung. Die inneren Teile wurden aus Delrin gefertigt um das anbacken von Eis zu verhindern. Gleichzeitig wurde der Einstellknopf vergrössert und damit griffiger. Nun hiess das Ganze M 5 Polar.
